Santa Monica : District OKs Phone System
The Santa Monica Community College District Board of Trustees has awarded a $130,826 contract to AT&T; to install an automated switchboard that will permit students to register by telephone. The board also approved a $10,422 maintenance program for the system, which will begin at the end of the one-year warranty period.
The switchboard, called a network communication processor, will be available to students using touch-tone phones. In addition to facilitating registration, it also will provide information on courses, events and other items when the caller presses specified numbers.
A pilot program using the switchboard is scheduled to go into effect next winter, when students register for the spring 1988 semester.
