Riscen, Valley Dodgers Earn Split in San Diego

The Valley Dodgers, ranked seventh in the National Baseball Congress, split a Golden State League doubleheader with the San Diego Stars on Saturday in San Diego.
The Dodgers (14-2 overall, 8-2 in league) won the first game, 12-7, behind the complete-game pitching of Fred Riscen (3-0) and home runs by Rick Allen, Eddie Zosky and Rob Scott.
San Diego (13-3, 5-1), ranked 11th, won the second game, 7-6, on a squeeze in the eighth inning. Jim Osborn and Don Sparks hit home runs for the Dodgers. Chris Haslock, who pitched three innings in relief for the Dodgers, suffered the loss.
The teams complete the four-game series today with a noon doubleheader at Cal State Northridge.
