Thunderstorms with winds up to 86 m.p.h. blew down trees, derailed a train and caused other damage across parts of Kansas and Missouri. Storms drenched Alabama with nearly nine inches of rain and flooded Kansas with five inches. Winds broke windows and downed trees in Wellington, Kan., and downed power lines in western Harvey County, the National Weather Service said. High winds blew 28 cars of a Southern Pacific freight train off the tracks near Minneola, officials reported.
