Hawthorne : Tax Measure on Ballot

The City Council will place a measure on the Nov. 3 general election ballot asking residents to approve an ordinance that would impose an annual $12 tax per residential unit or house to raise $300,000 for a new Fire Department paramedic unit.
A simple majority is needed to approve the tax, which would most likely be collected at the same time property taxes are paid, according to City Manager R. Kenneth Jue.
