Museum Pays $15 Million for Italian Masterpiece

FORT WORTH, Tex. — The Kimbell Art Museum has purchased a 16th-Century masterpiece by the Italian painter Caravaggio for a reported $15 million--a price that may be the most ever paid for a work of art in a private sale.
The painting “The Card Sharps” was purchased from an anonymous European collector.
