Ishige’s Homer Leads Japan All-Star Team

YOKOHAMA, Japan — Hiromichi Ishige of the Seibu Lions hit a tie-breaking, three-run home run in the seventh inning, leading the Pacific League team to an 8-3 victory over the Central League in the second game of a three-game Japanese All-Star series Sunday.
It was the Pacific League’s second victory in the series. The third and final game is scheduled for Tuesday.
The Central League All-Stars took a 2-0 lead on a two-run homer by the Hanshin Tigers’ Randy Bass, formerly with the Texas Rangers, in the first inning.
In the fourth, the Kintetsu Buffaloes’ Richard Davis, formerly with the Toronto Blue Jays, drove in the first run for the Pacific League All-Stars with a grounder to shortstop.
Ishige was named the second game’s most valuable player.
