Selling Arms
According to a report in The Times (Aug. 5), there are 78 countries selling arms either to Iraq or Iran or both. Thus we are reminded that war and arms provide jobs for many and prosperity for some.
Economic dependence on the armaments business is certainly an obstacle to peace but not insuperable. Just as trafficking in human beings became unacceptable, so may trafficking in arms as we reject violence in favor of reconciliation and peace.
