OPA-LOCKA, Fla. — A helicopter and a small plane collided today at Opa-Locka Airport as the student pilots in both crafts were making practice landings, killing the chopper pilot, authorities said.
The plane, a Cessna 152, apparently glided to a landing and a student flyer and his instructor walked away uninjured from the damaged aircraft. Police identified the helicopter victim as Keiji Nakajima, 27, a student pilot. Airway Charters Ltd., owners of the Cessna, declined to release the names of the student and instructor in the plane.
