Racal-Dana Instruments Inc. in Irvine said it has been awarded five yearlong contracts, worth at least $5 million, to supply electronic timers and other test instruments to the Marine Corps. Renewal options could increase the total, the company said.
Racal-Dana, a subsidiary of the London-based conglomerate Racal PLC, also has won contracts this year from the other branches of the military, including a five-year, $16-million contract from the Air Force.
Spokesman Malcolm Levy said Racal-Dana expects first-year sales of $4.5 million from the Air Force contract for an electronic frequency counter and timer.
Racal PLC, which reported 1987 sales of $2 billion, does not release sales figures for its subsidiaries. Racal-Dana employs 500 workers in the United States, including 200 in manufacturing, sales and headquarters operations in Irvine.
