CS Long Beach’s Quarterback Is Ailing for Mismatch Against Michigan Today

Cal State Long Beach will play 14th-ranked Michigan today in a game that has been called a mismatch since it was scheduled several years ago.

Not only are the 49ers heavy underdogs in their first game against a Big Ten team, but their quarterback, Jeff Graham, may be hampered by an injury.

Graham, the top-rated passer in the Pacific Coast Athletic Assn., bruised his right shin in last week’s 31-12 loss at Cal State Fullerton but is expected to play.

The 49ers (1-2) will try to test the pass defense of the Wolverines (1-1), who gave up 334 yards to Washington State last Saturday.

The usual Michigan Stadium crowd of more than 100,000 will be the largest ever for the 49ers, who have played before an average of 5,545 fans this season.
