A new federal disaster aid application center for victims of the Oct. 1 earthquake will open next week, while one of the currently operating centers will be closed, officials said Thursday.
The new center, a one-stop station for various forms of disaster aid, including application processing for relief loans and grants, will open Monday in Los Angeles at the Harvard Recreation Center, 1535 W. 62nd St.
Meanwhile, the assistance center at Highland Park Recreation Center will be closed Saturday by officials of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
The move leaves seven centers, three in Los Angeles and the others in Alhambra, La Habra, Rosemead and Whittier.
