My Virginia Reel Scores Win in Hollywood Park Feature

My Virginia Reel took over approaching the stretch, then held off Saros Brig for a two-length victory in the $45,000 featured race Wednesday at the Fall Holiday Meeting Of Champions at Hollywood Park.
Ridden by apprentice Arturo Banderas, My Virginia Reel covered the 1 1/16 miles in 1:44 4/5 on a muddy track. The victory was worth $24,750, and My Virginia Reel paid $6.80, $2.60 and $2.20.
Saros Brig, ridden by Laffit Pincay, finished 2 1/2 lengths ahead of Griddle and paid $2.60 and $2.10. Griddle, ridden by Sandy Hawley, was third in the field of five fillies and mares, paying $2.60.
