Girls’ Roundup : Ocean View Hangs On for Victory

Ocean View High School almost let a 16-point halftime lead slip away but held on for a 49-45 win over Colton in the Savanna Tournament Wednesday night at Savanna.
The Seahawks led at halftime, 32-16, but Colton rallied against Ocean View reserves in the third and fourth quarters.
With 1:20 left, Colton pulled even, 45-45. But Alli Takido’s two free throws put Ocean View ahead for good.
Lisa Smith scored 13 points and Erika Whistler had 11 points and 10 rebounds for Ocean View (4-4).
Ocean View plays Edison in the semifinal round 3 p.m. Friday.
In another Savanna Tournament game:
Edison 49, Westminster 33--Wendy Sandstedt scored 16 points and had 10 rebounds and 5 assists for Edison (6-2).
Stefanie Moorman scored 16 points for Edison, which faces Ocean View in the semifinals Friday.
In the El Dorado Tournament:
Palm Desert 59, El Dorado 43--Tara Davidson scored a game-high 30 points to lead Palm Desert. El Dorado’s Chrissy Nimean had 10 points.
In the Orange Lutheran Tournament:
Rosary 62, L.A. Lutheran 46--Cari Garcia scored 22 points and Colleen Callahan 12 for Rosary in the first-round game.
Rio Hondo Prep 45, Connelly 25--Shrilee Calchuela scored six points for Rosary in the first-round game.
In a nonleague game:
Huntington Beach 43, Capistrano Valley 40--Tami Chick scored 13 and had 8 rebounds to lead Huntington Beach at home. Pam Fogg added 10 points and Teri Clemens 7 rebounds for Huntington Beach (5-4).
Ramona Boyd made a free throw with 30 seconds left to give Huntington Beach at 43-40 lead.
