Prep Soccer : Mission Viejo Girls Are Top-Seeded
Mission Viejo High School, the defending Southern Section 4-A champion, is the top-seeded team in the sixth annual Ocean View girls’ soccer tournament at Ocean View High School beginning at 7:30 a.m. today.
The Diablos, who defeated Torrance in last season’s Ocean View tournament final, also defeated Torrance for the 4-A title.
Last season marked the third consecutive year that the Ocean View tournament champion won a Southern Section title.
The 32-team field features many top Orange County teams, including Capistrano Valley, Corona del Mar, Edison, Esperanza, Laguna Hills, La Quinta, Los Alamitos and Mater Dei.
Other top entries are Agoura, the defending 2-A champion; Alemany, Arcadia, Mira Costa, Torrance and West Torrance.
The three-day, double-elimination tournament will be played on four separate fields at Ocean View.
Finals are scheduled for Wednesday, beginning with the consolation final at 9 a.m. The championship will begin at 1 p.m.
