Local News in Brief : Fullerton : Cal State Given Books by South Korea Regime

South Korea’s government has given Cal State Fullerton 50 books on various aspects of that country, and the university said the gift forms “the nucleus of a collection in Korean studies.”
The Korean Ministry of Culture and Information gave the university volumes on Korean history, economics, culture, politics and society. Taikwhi Lee, who is on leave from Seoul National Teachers College and currently serving as a visiting professor at Cal State Fullerton, initiated the request to South Korea for the government donation.
“Because California is part of the Pacific Rim, scholars and students have to pay attention to the region and its advances and problems,” Lee said. “As a visiting scholar from Korea, I decided the books would be very helpful for those who are concerned about Korean studies, and this small donation will be one of my contributions to the university.”
The collection will be kept in Cal State Fullerton’s library. All of the books are in English, and one of the volumes is about U.S.-Korean diplomatic relations between 1882 and 1982.
