Local News in Brief : Fullerton : Cal State Alumni Honor Evelyn Bauman
Evelyn W. Bauman of Fullerton has received the 1987 Community Service Award from Cal State Fullerton’s Conference of Alumni, the university announced.
A university spokeswoman said Bauman received the award “for her involvement in both community and university programs.” Bauman was named the award winner at a ceremony presided over by university President Jewel Plummer Cobb. Theresa Harvey, president of the Conference of Alumni, presented Bauman with a plaque.
“Mrs. Bauman is truly a friend of the university and a most deserving recipient of this award,” Cobb said.
Bauman is vice chair of Cobb’s advisory board and is chair of the Women’s Studies Program Council at the university. She has been active in the Cal State Fullerton support organization, Friends of the State University, since 1965 and was on its executive committee for six years. She has also been active in Art Alliance, Music Associates and Friends of the Fullerton Arboretum, all of which are university support groups.
Bauman also was instrumental in the founding of Cal State Fullerton’s educational opportunity program.
