BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — Ken Berry scored his second goal of the game midway through the third period, breaking a 4-4 tie and leading the Canadian Olympic hockey team to a 6-4 victory over the United States Olympic team Thursday night.
Berry was breaking in alone on U.S. goalie Mike Richter when he was pulled down from behind by Scott Young. Both players slid into Richter, pushing the puck across the goal line and giving the Canadians a 5-4 lead at 9:26 of the third period.
Cliff Ronning added a goal less than a minute later for the final margin.
The United States and Canada have played six times, with the Canadians holding a 3-2-1 advantage. The two squads will play four more times before going to Calgary for the Olympics, beginning Feb. 13.
