Coping With Tax Reform
Isn’t it nice that President Reagan will pay lower taxes this year (Part I, Jan. 25). On the other hand, the very low-income people will pay much higher ones.
In 1986 my daughter’s net income was $6,950. Her tax was $572. This year it would be $974!
On a net income of $3,829, her 1987 tax is $502. Last year it would have been $87.
I hope the President and Congress are proud of the tax reform that gouges those least able to pay.
