Watch out for some bad collisions on Memorial Day weekend. Four big titles will debut on some 6,700 screens to kick off the summer deluge.
Sources tell us that Paramount’s “Crocodile Dundee II” will open on more than 2,500 screens (breaking “Bev Hills Cop II’s” current single picture opening of 2,300); Tri-Star’s “Rambo III” will debut on roughly 2,200; Warner Bros.’ “Hot to Trot,” a talking-horse comedy starring zany Bobcat Goldthwait, premieres on 1,200, and “Willow,” an epic fantasy from George Lucas, MGM/UA and Lucasfilm, gets an 800-screen launch.
It totals up as the single largest opening--by far--of new films of any weekend in history.
