Randy Grant grabbed a rebound and scored with two seconds left Saturday to give Oregon a 62-61 victory over Oregon State at Eugene, Ore., in the Pacific 10 Conference regular-season finale for both teams.
The victory was the first for the Ducks (15-12 overall, 10-8 in the Pac-10) over the Beavers in Eugene in nine years and only the second Oregon victory in the last 21 meetings between the schools.
Oregon State (18-9, 12-6), playing without leading scorer Bill Sherwood, who had a sprained ankle, took a 61-60 lead on two steals and layups by Bob Cavell and Gary Payton in the final minute.
Oregon’s Anthony Taylor missed an 18-footer under pressure in the final seconds, but the ball bounced to Grant for the winning shot.
Arizona 89, Washington 71--Sean Elliott scored 25 points, and the third-ranked Wildcats pulled away from the Huskies in the second half at Tucson to complete a 16-0 regular season at home.
The Wildcats (28-2, 17-1) will be the host and the top-seeded team in the Pac-10 tournament, which begins Thursday.
Arizona tied Oregon State’s 1981 record for most conference wins.
