Nobody expected Democratic presidential dark horse candidate Jack Tanner to win many delegates on Super Tuesday, not when his stab at wooing Southern voters consisted only of full-page political advertisements in both Hollywood trade papers. But Tanner--a. k. a. actor Michael Murphy--the Garry Trudeau-Robert Altman character whose “Tanner ‘88” special on Home Box Office debuted to critical acclaim last month, just received something contenders on both sides covet: more air time. HBO ordered eight new half-hour episodes of campaign chronicles, which will run twice a month from May through August. Taping on the new shows begins next week in Washington. The second of the two original episodes will air Tuesday.
