Local News in Brief : Norwalk : Green Will Seek Reelection
- Share via
State Sen. Cecil Green (D-Norwalk) last week filed candidate nomination papers announcing his bid to retain the 33rd District seat he won last year in a special election.
A former Norwalk councilman, Green last May defeated Assemblyman Wayne Grisham (R-Norwalk) in the most expensive Senate race in state history. This year he will face opposition from either Cerritos Councilman Donald Knabe or former Hawaiian Gardens Councilwoman Maggie Vineyard, the two Republican primary contenders.
Mentioning law and order, worker safety and consumer issues, Green said he is proud of his first year in office. His district represents the cities of Downey, Norwalk, Cerritos, Santa Fe Springs, Bellflower, Norwalk and Artesia, as well as four Orange County cities.
