The Colleges : College Roundup : Chapman Powers Past Loyola

Chris Cutliff, Jeff Kidwiler, Mike Grahovac and Paul Swingle all hit home runs to lead Chapman College to an 11-5 victory over seventh-ranked Loyola Marymount in a nonconference baseball game at Loyola Wednesday.
Dave Mayhall had three hits and two RBIs, and Jim Bennett (2-1) picked up the victory for Chapman is 12-10-1. Loyola is 17-6.
In another nonconference baseball game:
Cal State Fullerton 9, University of San Diego 2--Fullerton, led by Mike Ross’ two-run double, scored six runs in the first inning at home. Brent Mayne was 4 for 4 and scored two runs to help Fullerton (15-7), which has won 10 of its last 11 games. USD is 9-12.
In nonconference men’s tennis:
UC Irvine 6, West Virginia 3--Richard Lubner and Mark Kaplan won as host Irvine (10-3) swept the singles.
Christ College Irvine 6, La Verne 3--The teams split the six singles matches but Irvine (4-8) swept the doubles.
