Soviet Skaters in First Place

The Soviet Union’s famed B&B; ice-dance champions, Natalya Bestemianova and Andrei Bukin, today took the first steps toward capturing their fourth and final world title by winning the compulsory dances at the World Figure Skating Championships. Their persistent Soviet rivals Marina Klimova and Sergei Ponomarenko were in second, with Canadians Tracy Wilson and Robert McCall in third place.
