Southland Corp. announced that it has completed the sales of its Dairies Group and Tidel Systems division. The Dairies Group was sold to MorningStar Foods Inc., an affiliate of Duncan, Cook & Co., a private investment firm based in Houston. Tidel Systems was sold to Tidel Systems Inc., a newly formed corporation controlled by David H. Monnich of Dallas. The sale of the Dairies Group includes 10 regional dairies throughout the United States, comprising 25 plants and related distribution points. Tidel Systems, which is based in Carrollton, Tex., manufactures cash dispensing machines, underground gasoline tank monitoring systems and other products. Southland is the world’s largest convenience retailer.
