A 21-year-old San Diego man was arrested Friday in connection with the stabbing death of an Ocean Beach man, police said.
The body of J. Warren Campbell, 66, was found April 15 in a bedroom closet in his apartment in the 4600 block of Voltaire Street, San Diego police spokesman Bill Robinson said. Campbell had been bound, gagged and stabbed, Robinson said.
Campbell, who managed the apartment building, was found by the building’s owner, who told police he had not seen the victim for two days.
Homicide detectives arrested Robert Hunter of the 4800 block of Long Branch Avenue at his job at a Sea World warehouse Friday afternoon, Robinson said. He was later booked in connection with the slaying.
Robinson said Hunter and Campbell were acquainted and that robbery appears to have been a motive in the death.
Campbell’s car, which had been taken from the building, was found by a security guard Monday at the Fashion Valley shopping center, Robinson said.
