Japan’s agriculture minister will remain in Washington until next week in efforts to break the deadlock in negotiations over barriers against the sale of more U.S. beef and oranges in Japan, a spokesman said Friday. Takashi Sato, minister of agriculture, fisheries and forestry and U.S. Trade Representative Clayton K. Yeutter met for the third consecutive day and decided to continue their talks Monday, said Sato’s spokesman. He would not say if there had been any progress. The United States has been demanding that Japan end the quotas that the two countries agreed to in a four-year accord that expired at the end of March.
