Chaney Expects to Be Named Coach of Rockets

Former Clipper coach Don Chaney, now an assistant with the Atlanta Hawks, emerged Friday as the likely choice to become the Houston Rockets’ head coach, although General Manager Ray Patterson stopped short of making an announcement.
“It’ll probably be the first of the week, probably on Monday, if he’s the guy,” Patterson said of Chaney.
Chaney told KRIV-TV he felt confident about getting his second head coaching job.
“I’m just overjoyed that I could get an opportunity to coach in Houston and to coach the Rockets,” he said.
