Rob Templin, 32, of San Diego, was the race leader as bicyclists in the 3,100-mile Race Across America reached the eastern plains of Colorado.
Rich Fedrigon of Chicago and Roger Charleville of Cincinnati were second and third with a little more than a third of the race complete. Cindy Staiger, 35, of Long Beach, was the women’s leader.
Of the 39 racers who began the race in San Francisco, 28 remained in the competition, which is scheduled to end June 28 at the Washington Monument.
