The man police were seeking in connection with the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old girl surrendered Thursday and was booked into County Jail downtown on suspicion of murder, a police spokesman said.
Terrance Russell, 20, of East San Diego, turned himself in at police headquarters about 4 p.m., spokesman Bill Robinson said.
Russell was sought by police for questioning in the Wednesday-morning shooting of Selina Whit in an apartment in the 4200 block area of 46th Street, where she lived with her aunt and five other people, including the suspect.
Residents told police that Russell fled the apartment with a revolver about 2 a.m. Wednesday, moments after shots were fired.
