The search for a Rancho Cucamonga man missing in the Yosemite high country for more than a week has been scaled back. The search began July 6, the day after Timothy Barnes, 24, disappeared on a solitary six-mile hike between Tenaya Lake and Polly Dome Lakes. His companions told rangers that Barnes failed to reach Polly Dome Lakes. Search teams of as many as 170 people and several dogs spent seven days looking for him. They were aided by two helicopters. “We are scaling back the search and demobilizing the search teams because we haven’t found even the slightest clue as to his whereabouts,” a spokeswoman for the National Park Service said. She said the search will remain open and “investigators will check out any leads we get anytime in the future.”
