Digitext Reports Loss of $4.64 Million for Year
Digitext, a Thousand Oaks company that is developing a specialized computer keyboard, said it lost $4.64 million in its fiscal year ended March 31, compared with a $3.75-million loss the previous year.
Digitext is trying to sell a keyboard that rapidly enters text, such as stenography notes, into a computer. But mechanical problems in early versions of the machine delayed initial shipments of the product, which were supposed to start last fall.
The company recently began shipments after redesigning the keyboard. Computer giant Wang Laboratories Inc. had agreed to be Digitext’s exclusive distributor, but the companies are renegotiating their agreement so that both companies can sell the product, Digitext said.
Digitext’s revenue last year was $788,166, up from $755,551 in 1986.
