Viking Freight Inc., San Jose, which has 37 terminals and is California’s largest intrastate trucking company, will become a subsidiary of Roadway Services Inc., based in Akron, Ohio. Roadway bought Viking for $125.6 million in cash and Viking’s board unanimously accepted Roadway’s tender offer of $35.50 for each of about 3.5 million Viking shares. Roadway has about 10 times Viking’ sales at $1.9 billion annually.
