Golfer, 12, Has Two Aces in Junior Play
SAN DIEGO — Eric Shortz of Pacific Palisades shot two holes-in-one in the opening round of the boys’ 11-12 division at the Optimist Junior World Golf Championships at Mission Bay Golf Course.
Shortz, 12, used a 9-iron to sink 120-yard drives on the No. 4 and No. 6 holes of the executive course, which is shorter than a standard course.
No golfer in the tournament’s 21 years has ever had two holes-in-one.
Shortz, a seventh-grader playing in the tournament for the second time, finished with an 9-hole score of 55, three under par, and leads his division.
