South Korea is rewriting its immigration laws to recognize passports issued by Communist countries as part of Seoul’s efforts to expand ties with those nations, the Korea Broadcasting System reported. Seoul plans to ease other restrictions on visits to and from Communist countries, including dropping requirements of prior approval by the Justice Ministry and intelligence agencies for such trips, government officials were quoted as saying. South Korea does not have diplomatic relations with any Communist country but has begun exchanging trade offices with Hungary and Yugoslavia and is seeking such exchanges with China and the Soviet Union.
