Union Carbide Corp. said has found a way to avoid using ozone-destroying chemicals in making foam used for furniture padding. The technology could eliminate 70% of the use of ozone-destroying chlorofluorocarbons in the flexible foam industry, which now accounts for 12% to 15% of the world’s chlorofluorocarbon use, the company said.
