A Buena Park man was killed Wednesday morning when his car and another vehicle collided at the intersection of Newland Street and Westminster Boulevard, police said.
Traffic investigators said Anthony Darley, 23, was northbound on Newland Street about 7:22 a.m. when he turned left onto Westminster Boulevard and collided with Edward Dietrich, 17, of Garden Grove, who was on his way to the beach with a friend, Officer Tom Broderson said.
“As the vehicles collided, Darley was thrown to the passenger side and was wedged between the seat and the passenger door,” Sgt. Mike Mittelstaedt said. Darley died at the scene.
Dietrich and his friend suffered only scratches and bruises. Both were wearing seat belts; Darley was not.
“Officers examined Darley’s car and found the seat belts wedged down through the seat and lying on the back floorboard,” Mittelstaedt said.
