Local News in Brief : Shopping Area to Link Brand, Parking Garage
- Share via
Buildings on Brand Boulevard are scheduled to be demolished next week to make way for construction of a shopping arcade linking the boulevard with a new city parking garage, said Susan Shick, Glendale’s deputy redevelopment director.
The project was jointly approved Tuesday by the City Council and the Redevelopment Agency.
The buildings at 128 to 136 N. Brand Blvd. will be replaced with two 4-story buildings. The new buildings are to be separated to provide a passageway between Brand and a garage, under construction on Maryland Avenue.
The new buildings will include shops and restaurants on the ground level and office space on the upper floors, Shick said.
The developer, Howard-Platz Group of Glendale, has agreed to pay $1.4 million for the arcade site. The project is scheduled to be completed in February, 1990.
