New Version of H. G. Wells’ ‘War of the Worlds’ Premieres
A new radio version of H. G. Wells’ classic science fiction story, “The War of the Worlds,” premieres Sunday on three FM stations: KUSC (91.5) at 5 p.m., and KPCC (89.3) and KCRW (89.9) at 7 p.m.
This new production, airing on the 50th anniversary of Orson Welles’ legendary 1938 “Mercury Theater” broadcast that panicked some listeners, features Jason Robards Jr., Steve Allen, Douglas Edwards and Rene Auberjonois.
The 1938 version can be heard Sunday at 6 p.m. on KPCC-FM (89.3) and at 9 p.m. on KNX (1070).
