Proving once again that old TV stars never die, they just end up on CBS, the third-place network, which gave Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore a fresh start this season, has contracted for a new half-hour comedy starring Valerie Harper. The actress recently won a lucrative courtroom victory over Lorimar Telepictures over her dismissal from the NBC series “Valerie,” which later became “Valerie’s Family” and is now “The Hogan Family” starring Sandy Duncan. She has been given a 13-episode commitment by CBS, but no air date for the series has been announced. Paul Haggis, formerly a producer on “One Day at a Time” and an Emmy-winner for his work on “thirtysomething” this past year, will be the show’s executive producer.
