A dissident group of shareholders ended an attempt to gain control of Zenith Electronics Corp., saying it was satisfied that the company was taking steps to improve the value of its shares. The announcement ends a takeover battle launched Oct. 12 by Brookhurst Partners of New York, owner of 6.1% of Zenith’s stock.
