Dameworth Earns Berth in Nationals

For the second time in 3 years, Bryan Dameworth of Agoura High has qualified for the Kinney national cross-country meet.
A week after defending his state Division I title at Woodward Park in Fresno, Dameworth placed second to Francis O’Neil of San Pasqual High in Escondido in the Kinney West regionals on Saturday over the same course.
O’Neil, fourth in the Division I meet, ran a personal-best 14 minutes, 56 seconds over the 5,000-meter course. Dameworth was timed in 14:58, also a personal best.
Mike Williamson of Thousand Oaks, second to Dameworth at the state meet, placed eighth (15:05) to garner the last qualifying position for the national championships.
Agoura sophomore Deena Drossin placed fifth (17:42) in the girls’ race, qualifying for nationals for the second year in a row. Kira Jorgensen of Rancho Buena Vista High in Vista won in 17:28.
