Goslin Selected All-American : Moorpark Lineman Acclaimed by WSC as Defensive Standout

John Goslin of Moorpark College was selected this week to the Junior College All-American second team by the JC Athletic Bureau.

Goslin, a 6-foot, 4-inch, 255-pound sophomore lineman, also was named the top defensive player in the Northern Division of the Western State Conference and was 1 of 7 Moorpark players selected to the All-WSC first team.

Six Ventura College players were selected to the All-WSC first team and 6 more made the second team, including freshman quarterback Todd Paffhausen, who completed 67 of 136 passes for 900 yards and 6 touchdowns after replacing sophomore Juan Moreno in the latter half of the season.

Moorpark fullback Larry Roberts, the third-leading rusher in the WSC, was a first-team offensive selection along with sophomore lineman Greg Mattes and freshman kicker Sean Cheevers. Linebackers Doug Britton, a sophomore, and freshman Tom Briggs made the first-team defense along with defensive back Troy Thomas and Goslin.

Eleven Moorpark players were selected to the second team, including sophomore offensive linemen Anthony Trueba and Fernando Hernandez, tight end Randy Johnson and wide receiver Darren Romano, both sophomores, and freshman running back Tony Kerr.

Linemen Johnny Ruiz, a sophomore, and freshman Don Anderson made the second-team defense along with freshman linebacker Scott Yurek, freshman linebacker Ken Haefliger, sophomore punter Todd Rawsthorne and freshman defensive back Larnell Bush.

Sophomore linebacker Chad Lindsay, who had a school-record 166 tackles for Ventura, was a first-team defensive selection along with freshman lineman Eeron Wilson and freshman defensive back Kyron Johnson.

Freshman running back Wayne Jones, who led Ventura rushers with 593 yards in 128 carries, was a first-team offensive selection along with freshman lineman Erin Powers and sophomore wide receiver Darin Fain.

Freshman center Won Lee and sophomore lineman Sean Hager made the second-team offense. Kicker Jose Reveles and running back Ryan Rapoza, both freshmen, also made the team.

Sophomore defensive back Russ Taylor was Ventura’s only second-team defense selection.
