Hitachi Ltd. filed a federal lawsuit charging Motorola Inc. with patent infringement on a microprocessor. The lawsuit follows similar action last week against Hitachi by Motorola, a computer and electronics giant based in Schaumburg, Ill. The dispute centers on Motorola’s 68HC11 and Hitachi’s H-8 microprocessors, digital electronic devices that perform the control and arithmetic functions of televisions, watches, video recorders and other products. Hitachi is a Japanese company whose U.S. subsidiary is based in Tarrytown, N.Y.
