In Brief : Lancias Sweep Monte Carlo Rally

MONTE CARLO — World champion Massimo Biasion of Italy won the 57th Monte Carlo Rally, leading a sweep today of the first three places by Lancia Integrales.
Biasion, who took the lead last Sunday, was timed at seven hours, 13 minutes, 27 seconds for the event. He had a lead of 6:27 over teammate Didier Auriol of France. In third place was Bruno Saby of Italy, 7:41 behind.
It was the first 1-2-3 sweep for Lancia in the Monte Carlo Rally since 1976 when Sandro Munari, Bjorn Waldegard and Bernard Darniche took the top three spots.
Biasion also won the Monte Carlo Rally two years ago.
