Local News in Brief : Irvine : Oakland Troupe to Do Only Excerpts of Ballet
- Share via
The Oakland Ballet will dance excerpts from choreographer Bronislava Nijinska’s “Les Biches” rather than the complete ballet as had been announced by UC Irvine, according to a spokeswoman for the dance troupe.
The performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday as part of the Cocteau Centenary Festival at UC Irvine.
Oakland marketing director Millie Mitchell noted that the ballet is a last-minute substitution for the originally announced Nijinska “Le Train Bleu,” a ballet the company had been rehearsing but had to withdraw over disputes about ownership rights.
