4-A : Fullerton Hits Key Free Throws Down Stretch for 67-63 Victory

Lee Green hit four free throws in the final quarter and Fullerton High School defeated Pioneer, 67-63, Wednesday in a first-round Southern Section 4-A playoff game at Fullerton.
Green scored six of his 13 points in the fourth quarter. Chris Rubal clinched the victory with a free throw with 23 seconds remaining.
Pioneer (12-11), a fourth-place team from the Whitmont League, trailed, 43-32, at halftime, but started the second half with a 9-1 spurt and eventually tied the score, 55-55, with 50 seconds remaining in the third quarter.
But the Titans failed to score in the final two minutes and lost an opportunity to tie the score when they turned the ball over.
Pete Bach led Fullerton (17-6) with 17 points. Pioneer was led Matt Armstrong, who had 15 points.
Fullerton will play at Artesia Friday night.
