Wade Boggs said, “Justice has paid off,” in a court decision throwing out a major portion of his former girlfriend’s lawsuit against the Boston Red Sox star player.
The 4th District Court of Appeals in California threw out a key portion of Margo Adams’ $12-million lawsuit against Boggs, ruling that she can’t sue for emotional reasons.
In another development, Red Sox Manager Joe Morgan had a clear-the-air meeting with pitcher Dennis (Oil Can) Boyd.
Boyd became the first Boston player to publicly criticize Boggs publicly for the Adams affair, calling his teammate a sex fiend and suggesting he see a psychiatrist.
Boyd refused to talk after the meeting, but Morgan said that Boyd was angry over some of the newspaper accounts of his remarks, contending he hadn’t said such things.
