Monitoring TV Imports: Zenith Electronics said it welcomed the government’s decision to monitor television imports from Mexico and Malaysia, saying the action could help curb the dumping of imported TVs at less than fair market value. Acting at Zenith’s request, the Commerce Department agreed to monitor imports of complete and partly assembled color TVs. The firm said Far East manufacturers have evaded anti-dumping penalties by establishing assembly operations in other countries, such as Mexico and Malaysia. It said color TV imports from those two nations are almost as large as those from Japan, South Korea and Taiwan combined.
