Cerritos College is the state junior college basketball champion.
The Falcons overcame a 10-point deficit in the second half to defeat Chabot of Hayward, 85-76, Saturday night at Santa Clara.
Andre Edwards, formerly of Lynwood High School, scored 33 points in the championship game and averaged 27 in the three games of the tournament.
It was the third state title for Cerritos and the second in seven years for Coach Jack Bogdanovich.
Bogdanovich, who had his worst record (23-10) a year ago, said: “I made a vow before the season started that we’d work hard enough to get to the state.”
The Falcons overcame injuries and illness this season to finish 31-4, mainly because of Edwards, Wayne Gibson, Scott Roczey and Corey Jennings.
